California has been in battle with wildfires for decades, but in recent years, the destruction and chaos caused by wildfires have risen exponentially. Inspired by what we learned at the 2019 summer program, we started Project Polaris, a solution for the wildfire chaos and beyond.

This project couldn’t have been started without the help of one of Dr. Jeng’s inventions, Pathon; it found a very interesting article about how the Lawrence Hall of Science used goats to help Berkeley battle wildfires. Then we started to link related articles and dominoes in Platograph, another one of Dr. Jeng’s inventions, realizing the fascinating puzzle of nature and climate change.

Project Polaris essentially is about designing an R&D blueprint for providing a complete framework for architecting The Cyberstellar Metaverse of simulating virtual nanosatellite networks which is potentially extensible to become a “digital twin” of Earth to build a smart planet, monitoring wildfires and reducing excessive wildfire risks to tackle on some major challenges of climate change both from the inside and the outside environments of Earth. The details of our project are documented on our website, https://lestercheng2005.wixsite.com/my-site-2. The website was created to document our progress and connect with like-minded peers. We would also like to mention our paper, Building a Simulation Metaverse of Nanosatellite Network on the Puzzle of Solar Winds, Forests, and Wildfires by a Dual-monitoring Swarm-AI Architecture, is attached below. We have also been using research material from our project to teach a part of the the AIxQC course advised by Dr. Jeng at the National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan.
